What Dr. Vani, Specialist in Integrative Medicine, St Lukes Roosevelt Hospital, New York
has to say on Swine Flu

Dr. Vani had given some tips on how to deal with Swine flu while she was on a short visit to Mumbai.  She told the audience not to panic and that the flu can be treated at home in the early stages.  Masks are only to be used in very crowded areas, she said.

When swine flu symptoms or symptoms of a cold are noticed,

  1. One should take Vitamin-C 1000 mg and Vitamin-D 1000 mg tablets once daily.

  2. Turmeric powder ½ tsp, ‘Tali Sadi Churan’ ¼ tsp, ‘Vasava leh’ ½ tsp twice a day, for 6 days, which will help in fast recovery.

  3. One should also drink a lot of water.

  4.  Only when Swine flu is severe, the patient should go to a hospital.

Dr. Vani asked the people present to take preventive measures and drink lemon juice and ginger tea and eat ‘Tulsi’ leaves to build greater resistance. It is advised to walk 20-30 minutes daily and also practice yoga.

She further added that, since Swine flu spreads through body contacts, one should wash hands regularly.
